NeuroBytes: Restless Legs Syndrome – Updates in Treatment
Course Description
Restless Legs Syndrome is a sleep-related movement disorder that can lead to evening and nighttime disruption, as well as daytime dysfunction. There have been updates to the treatment algorithm for restless legs syndrome, particularly with a change in first-line treatment. In this video, we review the treatment updates, which includes behavioral changes, iron supplementation, and pharmacologic interventions for intermittent, chronic persistent, and refractory restless legs syndrome. As this disorder is often treated by neurologists, sleep medicine specialists, and primary care providers, the aim of this video is to clarify these updates so providers can be informed when identifying and treating their patients with restless legs syndrome.
