NeuroBytes: Task Specific Focal Dystonia - "Writer's Cramp"

NeuroBytes: Task Specific Focal Dystonia - "Writer's CRamp"

Course Description

Task specific dystonia is a commonly missed focal dystonia. This is in part due to the symptoms being observed in specific anatomical areas, and isolated to a particular function. Like any other focal dystonia, it involves abnormal posturing or movement during volitional activity. However, the dystonia occurs only when performing a certain repetitive task, such as writing. We aim in this video to describe the phemonology, improve recognition and discuss management options of task specific dystonia.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this program the learner will be able to:
  • Recognize task specific focal dystonia by history and examination maneuvers.
