NeuroBytes: Acute Lower Back Pain: Assessment & Initial Management

NeuroBytes: Acute Lower Back Pain: Assessment & Initial Management

Course Description

Lower back pain is a common complaint among patients seeing a primary care provider or general neurologist. In this video, and using an illustrative case, we aim to provide some guiding principles that providers can use in their assessment of a patient complaining of lower back pain, as well as how to manage and further evaluate their condition, if necessary. We particularly emphasize potential red flags in the patient’s history and physical exam that might suggest more insidious causes of lower back pain.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this program the learner will be able to:
  • Triage, evaluate, and manage a patient with an initial complaint of lower back pain.
