Resident as Educator Training: Useful Teaching Skills

Resident as Educator Training: Useful Teaching Skills
Course Description
The Resident as Educator Training program (RET): The RET program is a longitudinal, modular program that supports and educates residents interested in pursuing a career in medical education. This series will focus on core educational concepts, fostering the development of direct teaching skills, curriculum development, assessment, mentorship, and educational scholarship. Over the course of one year, we will provide six synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities along with an in-person faculty meet and greet at the AANAM. This RET is designed to enhance your knowledge about medical education, expand your educational portfolio and lay the groundwork for a successful future career as a clinician educator. The first session will introduce the state of teaching in neurology and focus on useful teaching skills such as the five-step microskills and SNAPPS models. Also, residents will become familiar with the most recent educational technological applications, including simulation, virtual reality, and gamification.
