Understanding Status Epilepticus
Course Description
Status epilepticus is a neurological emergency requiring
immediate evaluation and management to prevent morbidity and mortality.
Historically, the duration of continuous seizure activity used to define status
epilepticus has varied over time. In this video, we clarify the formal
definition and discuss etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, as well as
evaluation and treatment.
Learning Objectives
As a result of this program the learner will be able to:
- Understand the definition of status epilepticus (SE) and the need for urgent evaluation and intervention.
- Identify common presentations, as well as the recommended evaluations and management of SE.
